What Happens When a UAE Public Holiday Falls on a Scheduled Day Off?

For UAE private-sector employers, public holidays and weekly rest days should be recorded separately in attendance systems. This is particularly important when an official public holiday falls on an employee's normal scheduled day off.

The UAE Government states that private-sector employees are entitled to paid official public holidays. It also confirms that, under Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024, a public holiday is not transferred to another day when it falls on a weekend.
